All the inspiration you need
When online I keep coming back to Maywa Denki because there’s just so much to see. Maywa Denki is this sort of art-house/toy/company/society/philosophy that does everything and nothing. Their main goal is to make art, but it often results in toys or something else. It’s sort of a club of experimentation. Most of the time I don’t understand anything, because of language barriers, but the stuff that they have and do is so interesting that it makes me come back. Isn’t that the kind of company you want to have? If so, I think there is one easy formula to make it happen.
Do stuff. A lot of stuff. Even if it doesn’t make sense it is still extremely interesting.
Question is, where are all these companies that do a lot of stuff? All I see when I look around is companies saying the same things all the time, doing the same things all the time. I am extremely bored of coming to a companies website and there’s no updates since the last time I was there, or seeing ads that have a new shell but the same context. I believe Russell Davies said it best; “It’s kind of analogies to someone meeting someone in a bar and they just say the same thing to you all night. You don’t leave going, ‘Good, what an admirably concise person that was’, you know. You kind of go, ‘How boring is that’.”
Take a look at the films and get an understanding of the “nonsense” Maywa Denki do.
