Take a Leap

Sometimes you miss Sweden because of things like snow, meatballs, falukorv or Swedish summer. And sometimes you miss Sweden because of things like Samsung Shakedown.

Simply enough Samsung Sakedown was about showing how tough their phone, with the horrible name, Samsung B2100 is. 70 phones was placed on a slightly skewed table, people were encouraged to call the phones that would vibrate of the table. If you were the one that made the phone fall of the table and down in a fish tank or down on the concrete floor you won the phone.

Now this is brilliant becuase it’s,

  • cheap
  • true digital
  • extremely engaging.

It’s another proof of how great non-traditional advertising is. Again, it’s cheaper than print/tv advertising, it’s engaging audience through the product they want to sell, it’s creating a memorable experience - the enormous emotional experience you have when you compete will be attached will make the audience remember this experiment. Lastly, the people that engaged in the competition and won the phones will be exactly the ones that wants the phone and the people Samsung wants to talk to. The winners will soon tell all their friends about the experience and so create positive exposure for the brand.

Ok, done. Now I have mentioned the brand several times and they will be extremely happy with everyone else in the blogosphere that does the same, because there will be a lot of exposure!

See, it’s not so bad to take a leap sometimes and go beyond traditional advertising.

Edit: Seems like the campaign is older than I thought, oh well, anyway, the people behind it are From Stockholm With Love.
